Cleveland Endovascular Institute

Building on its commitment to offering the latest medical, surgical and diagnostic services, St. John West Shore Hospital is proud to list the Cleveland Endovascular Institute among its growing roster of specialty programs. The only facility of its kind dedicated to this emerging field, the Institute represents the first time such advanced endovascular technology has been available in a suburban Northeast Ohio setting.

Under the direction of Curtis M. Lockhart, M.D., F.A.C.S., the Institute combines new devices, imaging and interventional techniques to provide area physicians and their patients with a single, high quality facility for vascular care. In addition, the Institute is involved in clinical research programs and education for physicians and patients in the rapidly growing, multidisciplinary field of endovascular medicine.

Dr. Lockhart is subspecialty board-certified in Vascular Surgery and his background includes more than a decade of experience in vascular disorders, including a two-year fellowship training with Dr. Michael E. DeBakey and Dr. E. Stanley Crawford at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Lockhart, who is well versed in and published on the topic of percutaneous treatments for vascular conditions, is extremely active in professional vascular organizations including the Society of Vascular Technology, the Michael E. DeBakey International Vascular Society and the International Society for Endovascular Surgery.

The Institute enjoys access to a global network of endovascular physicians including one of the world's foremost endovascular specialists, Frank J. Criado, M.D., F.A.C.S., of Baltimore who serves as special consultant. The Cleveland Endovascular Institute brings an unparalleled combination of training and experience to the care of patients with vascular disorders in this region.

The Institute is supported by educational grants from Cordis, a Johnson & Johnson Company, whose developments in stent technology and commitment to excellence in research puts it on the forefront of cardiovascular advances. Its support is instrumental to the development of progressive techniques and equipment.
